Power Struggle in Renaissance Europe
Fugger vs. Tudor vs. Medici - the most powerful houses collide in an epic strategy game

The game

Tudor vs Fugger vs Medici –the most powerful houses of the Old World collide in an epic battle.

Thrilling battles instead of dry combat tables: In Rise of Europe, players get to directly experience the progress of their heroes and soldiers during battle. Swordsmen and knights do battle supported by musketeers and ballistae – to name just a few of the many different troop types. Players also develop their cities, direct research and diplomacy, and control their hero's progression, as Rise of Europe combines all the elements of the perfect strategy game. Things never get dull, as a well-designed quest system provides an ongoing storyline with main and subsidiary tasks such as increasing your population, developing the economy in the surrounding area, or recruiting an urgently needed new troop type. An attractive city view indicates how well your settlement is doing and allows you to place and develop buildings. You can even speak to the good burgher’s who stroll the city streets: a priest might ask you to pray in the church, for example, or a researcher might want money for raw materials. The better you care for your cities, the more options you will have in the strategy game. This is because towns and their lords level up together, unlocking more building slots or heroes. Rise of Europe offers a wide varity of different troops – from pikemen and knights to early musketeers and cannons.

In other games, players might wait for weeks before they meet in their first battle. Rise of Europe, however, also offers a solo campaign, in which players get to compete with computer opponents. More than 20 different unit types (e.g. mounted riflemen) can be assigned to heroes. These leaders can be recruited in the tavern and positioned in battle formation. The battle is then conducted on-screen, while the players nervously root for their troops. This solo campaign is also good practice for battles with human opponents, which can even involve entire player alliances fighting for domination. There’s also plenty for players to do to build up their forces between battles. Players heal wounded heroes, train them (to stop them getting hurt in the first place), research new military technology and assign equipment (in standard RPG style), which can also be improved further
at the smithy.

Although Rise of Europe is based on the Renaissance, it does not put historical accuracy ahead of gaming enjoyment. The game still requires a great deal of strategic skill as Rise of Europe is aimed at experienced players of all platforms, providing incredible game depth and graphics that exceed even some boxed titles. The epic game is developed by the Chinese company Perfect World, which has developed many browser titles and MMORPGs.
